The most common type of barometer is an aneroid barometer, one of the easiest ways to measure pressure. Changes in air pressure affect capsules, which have no air inside. The movement as they change shape is enough to cause an arrow to move indicating the pressure on a circular scale. Barometers should be set to the atmospheric pressure at mean sea level for accurate readings to be taken.
